Strategic ramp-up

AI- and simulation-driven decision support for strategic ramp-up, capacity planning, and resilience in both defense and civil industries.
RES-UPP strengthens planning and accelerates decision-making for scalable, robust, and future-ready systems.

Phase 1 – Foundation

Establishing requirements, KPIs, and scenarios together with a reference group from civil and defense sectors.

Phase 2 – Development

Building and integrating the AI- and simulation-based decision support tool for capacity and scenario analysis.

Phase 3 – Demonstration

Validating the solution through two defense-related pilot demonstrators – production ramp-up and mobilization/logistics.

🟢 Current phase: Phase 1 is now underway.

RES-UPP – RESilient Supply Chains and Production Ramp-Up with Simulation and AI

RES-UPP aims to strengthen planning and decision-making for future scaling in the defense and manufacturing sectors through an AI- and simulation-based decision support system. The focus is on strategic capacity planning and scenario-driven analysis to manage resource needs, uncertainties, and rapid ramp-up challenges.

The project will deliver a pilot-verified demonstrator in two defense applications — production ramp-up and mobilization/logistics — showing how AI and simulation can shorten the time from analysis to decision while improving planning efficiency, resilience, and robustness. Measurable gains are expected in ramp-up speed, lead time, service level, and adaptability.

The work is organized into four work packages. Activities run November 2025–August 2026, including participation in a national accelerator program to strengthen Evoma’s dual-use strategy and prepare for future collaboration with the defense sector.

Work Packages

WP1 – Requirements & Reference Group
Mapping user needs, defining KPIs, and establishing a reference group with civil and defense representatives.
Activities include requirement workshops, scenario catalog creation, and validation of assumptions.

🟢 Current phase: Phase 1 is now underway.

WP2 – Platform Development
Developing core functionality for scenario setup, data handling, and multi-objective optimization.
Integration with Evoma’s simulation platform enables testing of different capacity and supply strategies.

WP3 – Integration & Simulation
Connecting production and supply-chain layers through the “chain-to-factory” model.
Includes learning/forgetting effects, ramp-up/ramp-down dynamics, and simulation-based optimization.

WP4 – Demonstration & Validation
Execution of two pilot demonstrators – one focusing on production ramp-up, the other on mobilization and logistics.
Both pilots will evaluate system performance through defined KPIs and provide input to the accelerator program.

Project Funding

RES-UPP is led by Evoma AB and funded by Vinnova – Sweden’s Innovation Agency.
The project is part of the national program “Acceleration of Civil-Military Innovations 2025”, aimed at transforming civilian technologies into defense-applicable solutions through AI and simulation-based decision support.
